The Stockholm Guild laid down new marking rules in their Ordinance from 1694. These rules covered pewterers in all towns in both Sweden and Finland which from the 12th Century was part of Sweden. The marks to look for are the town marks and pewterers' marks. They are small (next size up compared to the English "hall-marks"), each mark often contained within a shield of some kind, often within a single or a double border.
